Magic Initiate (Cleric) also won't help a lot, seeing as Fighters don't have any spell slots to make use of the level 1 spell more than once per day.

For example, if you are a 5th-level paladin, you have four 1st-level and two 2nd-level spell slots. With a Charisma of 14, your list of prepared spells can include four spells of 1st or 2nd level, in any combination.

To be fair the rules do state that the spell slot is expanded when casting the spell, and warlocks regain all expended spell slots when they take a short rest.
